Well freezing something doesn't change it's weight if I recall correctly, but it does change its density - ice is less dense than water, so it floats. But a gallon of water will weigh the same whether it's frozen or not.

No, at 4 degrees celsius, the water starts getting less dense.

No. A gallon of water will weigh about 8 pounds and a gallon of ice will weigh less than that depending how much air is trapped in the ice. Of course then, a gallon of water takes more space when it becomes frozen to where a gallon jug will not hold it all.
