Yes. It was a midair collision of a Gol Airlines 737B and an Embraer Legacy in 2006 over the Amazon Jungle in South America. The badly damaged Embraer with part of the wing sheared off was able to make an emergency landing at a nearby jungle airstrip, but the 737 crashed. The photos were from the memory stick on a camera one of the passengers had been carrying. There were no survivors from the 737B.

Great question. Do they simply get a thrill by seeing how many people will fall for it? Of course, the photos, while not from Air France flight 447, are from a very real air disaster and are spectacularly frightening.
