Shan is Purrrrrfectly Happy

Question

Help answer this question below.

I have trapped two spiders in my home resembling brown recluses that may be responsible for my recent bites. Do you have any recommendations on who I can take them to for identification? Would an entomologist be the best bet?

Why not just snap some digital photos of them and upload them to an entomologist? There are probably some standing by waiting to identify spiders on sites like liveperson.com.

It does not matter if they are brown recluse spiders, or not. Brown recluse spiders are shy, unaggressive spiders who strongly prefer to avoid humans and to not bite, if at all possible. Just call the exterminator, and don't fixate on the species.

Yes. Try the local university or county extension center, exterminator, veternarian, and yes an emergency room doctor. If you have been bitten see someone.

If it is you need to go see your doctor, you can take the spider with you.
