Sometimes its to avoid facing up to a situation they dont want to face or even their own feelings so they work themselves into a frenzy so that when they get home they have no energy and sleep rather than think about whats really going on... In short its escapism.

Because the cost of living keeps going up and wages keep going down. Most people don't work all the time because they want to. Of course, there are exceptions.
