I dunno.
Why did the Roman Empire think that?
Or Spain?
Or England?
Or France?
Or Germany?
Or the Aztecs, Incas or Mayans?
Or the Bakongo, Chewa, or Zulu tribes?
Or China?
Or Japan?
Or Egypt?
Or the Greeks?
Or the Phonecians?
I imagine it all amounts to the same thing, when you think about it. Which means it's hardly limited to America at all...especially when you realize America has only been around as a nation for a little over 230 years.
Your information is incorrect. I'm an American, and I don't feel that I have that right. In fact, I don't even believe in God.
Because our government is retarded and immoral.
When our conscience tells us we can't stand to see people killed because they can't express their political views. We see what happens is a result of people who have been oppressed. History tells us people will revolt when that happens. Maybe we are seeing a revolution in the making.
And why can't other nations tell America to just f*** off?
Many Americans don't.
But sadly, a great many do. They were raised on illusory ideas of the US saving the world in WWII, Manifest Destiny, and God Bless America.
Add to that the country's size and isolation from the world and you've got a large number of people who create and believe an mythology that gives them the right to do pretty much whatever they want.
+5
Watch the DR's come :-)
Name a country that doesn't.
Either way America will get flack from someone. If we stand by and don't do anything, we're asked why we're not helping out. If we do go in to help, often times we're looked at in a negative light. You can't please everyone.
My only thought at this point is, do we attempt to overthrow the Iranian government once again? And if so, how long before that new leader uses our own money and weapons against us?
America doesn't feel that it's God-given. And it's a responsibility, not a right.
.
If you hear your neighbor beating his wife you probably don't say to yourself 'this is an internal affair'. You call the police. This is because you know that misuse of force against weaker people is wrong.
.
Obviously we cannot defeat every tyrant (we could if we actually WERE an empire by forcing each nation we took to help us take others - but then we'd be the tyrant), but now and again an opportunity arises and we can aid real people who are really suffering.
.
Non-interference may work as a general policy - especially for countries that don't have a military or much economic clout - but it should never be considered a virtue. Not when it amounts to turning your back on a grand scale.
cause we are the super power of the world and its our duty!
I agree. The US should close it's borders, return all foreigners here without permission, and cease all foreign aid.
Because we have more bombs
When other nations constitute a threat to the US or our allies we have the right to protect ourselves or them.
We have a democracy with the Bill of Rights that provides some security against the government for all residents. We see that many other countries do not have these protections. Our God-given sense of right and wrong tells us it is wrong to mistreat people the way repressive dicatatorships do, so we feel quite justified in intervening when negotiations fail. We believe the democratic form of government is so much better for the people that we are justified in interfering with the internal affairs of another nation.
If you're talking about Iran, Obama already said it's Irans problem, it's the Republicans that are trying to get him to do more. Republicans should just be ignored because those are the Americans that are making us look bad lol.
Because if we don't we get a lot of hell don't you know. Why can't they handle their own problems and be mature about it. We don't care anyway about all the B.S.
Treat your women right (to whom it may conscern) and the country will miraculously work like it should.
They are trying to stir up trouble in Iran with the recent elections, somebody needs to remind them to take the skeletons out of their own closet, 2000?
Politics.
Ever notice that when there is a political scandal, those in office often times need a war to divert attention?
Because we're better and morally superior, and have the money and military to prove it!
(Yes, that's satire.)
You have to look at the U.S. for what it is. The U.S. has a hegemony over the world and is the word's only superpower. Consequently, it has an enormous amount of clout and there is nothing one nation or many nations can do about it. The U.S. can impose economic sanctions, declare military action, and start a PR war against any government, movement, organization and etc. And for what purpose? To preserve and to enhance its own survival whether that be in natural resources, corporate interest, ideologies, suppressing radical movements and etc.
It's because they're an empire and they have the means to do so. But like all empires that implode under their own weight, the U.S. will fall and another power will fill the void.
It's the bigger dick thing. They think they have a bigger dick so they want to fuck the rest of the world into submission. It has never worked in history and isn't about to start.
who says 'they feel they have the God given RIGHT?'
you ?
America feels compassion and justice for their 'fellowman' to help others....the peoples of other nations that suffer under their suppressive and oppressive LEADERS.....
suppose the US and other nations had just ignored Hitler ?
America used to be 'one nation UNDER God'...meaning we had God in it....now we are allowing HIM to be pushed out, unacknowledged.....
' God given right' ..its more RIGHT to care for others...
'am i my brothers keeper?' Cain asked....YES, we are.......just most are as selfcentered, arrogant and egotistical, greedy and jealous, as Cain was....
You're misinformed.
Politicians and the people they claim to represent are entirely different things.
because they've got the biggest army
Simple other countries are run by depotist and murders and we have to clean up for their messes lead by their failure to fight to be free and there epic failure effects us and we have to correct for their weakness.
cash,if everyone is fighting each other they are'nt going to be to bothered about yanks stealling everything
Because America is and it's people are full of themselves.
I agree with Factotum. But you have to agree that we live in times when for the first time ever, almost every country in the world agree that the way the US is interfering is "just too much". Even their allies have express this concern. Is not that they need to interfer in order to protect the communities in the world that are been abused and oppressed by their governments... actually I am happy that the US is protecting them!! What I am against is the way many times they analize the situation of those countries; sometimes they analize from the sole point of view of the American Culture and do not get the adquate analisis and genuine effort to understand what's going on out there before sending soldiers and taking down their governments.
compassion , and on occasions ASKED to..but a lot of nations look to the UNITED NATIONS :)
Because an inexperenced idiot was elected as president by corrupt orginizations such as acorn and the news orginazitations. I stand by for the dr as I guess I'm a racist, because I dont support him.
Because we're his favorite.
Because the Americans have no history of their own.
good point, i've asked something similar to this before.
not a solution, but part of the problem may be people who sign up to be in the U.S. military/armed forces. without those who risk their lives, we know damn well our country's leaders or congress arent gonna go over to iran and risk his life, so why should anyone else? America, for some years now, has seemingly been instigating a lot of trouble around the world... not saying that we are the only one, but 2 wrongs dont make a right.
Its not that "America" thinks anything. It's 100% about money.
because we think we're doing everything right
because we've been a united country for soooo long
and we're doing everything right
...yeah we suck
I don't think that this country thinks that they have a God-given right to interfere. For the most part, we react to situations that threaten our national interests wherever they may be.
Most of the time, other nations asks for Americas help.
Some of these countries are sitting ducks for terrorists and have little protection for their homeland.
The rest of the world has to accept that America has the God given right to interfere wherever they want and all those who are not willing to accept this God given fact will be bombed and wiped out.
This was the right policy of the USA and this will always be the policy of the USA.
America makes the rules and the rest of the world has to accept.
There is no bigger country in the world as America and Britain.
Both countries rule the world.
We have no choice.
Look at it when we try to staty out of it...
When North Korea started getting stupid again the world was aghast that we were telling S.Korea, Japan and China to deal with it.
Now Sarkozy views Obama as being weak and naieve because the anouncement at G20 instead of the Security Council. Like the Security Council is worth the time of day.
When Bush Sr. kept Israel at bay while skuds were flying in 1991 it was for a reason. Israel is not a country of wimps and weanies, they've had a knife to their throat for over 50 years.
Israel would not have hesitated to nuke Iraq and the biggest danger to world peace right now, is they won't hesitate to blast Iran off the face of the earth.
Israel will not stand for a country that has vowed to destroy them having missles with a 1,200 mile radius and a nuclear capabillity.
God help us all.
America is God's own country.
So Americans have been since ever something special.
People outside of the USA should accept this fact.
I assume you mean the USA. You may be unaware but America is huge and has many countries, most do not feel they have the rights you proclaim. Many of your own countrymen disagree with you, many US citizens have profound doubts about what is being done in their name.
Its all about self-aggrandizement. They will never interfere with international affairs if it doesn't benefit them financially.
Perhaps because God itself can only be an American for sure and he speaks of course only English and no other language.
God is American as Gerge W.Bush.
You have to ask the Americans and t is their own decision to think this like.
I don't mind.
That's the inherent nature of all empires: to think that the world is theirs for the taking
Primarily, no you ought to not choose any diverse nations
because they feel they have it all and that thay are so big and mighty...and powerfull than any other country!{and jus because they have wurl power}america is so evil! y?...
It is not American peoples that is to blame for this aggression. The peoples have been lied to and sedated into a numb state. Americans on the most part or so disconnected with the rest of the world. Just be ware when a nation gets into a position like the US is in economically. It's easier to steer a nation that is broken towards a common goal. I just hope the proper goal is the target.
America can do whatever they like and for America there are existing not any limits.
Quite different to all other nations America does defintively not need to respect any moral or legal restrictions.
Americans are educated and are used to these principles.
American people feel superior to all other nations and they are right if they use to regard other nations and nationalities as extremely useless and inferior. Those who have the power and the means are allowed by God to do whatever they like to do.
This is the base of all American politics and attitude.
Can you cite some examples of when this has happened without the help being asked for first

You're reading Why does America feel they have the God given right to interfere with the internal affairs of other nations?
Comments
Oh, wow! A minus five DR! SHOCKER!
.
Somehow, I just KNEW if I pointed out the obvious reality of history with respect to humanity, someone would be p*ssed off. Wah! Here's a video juuuuust for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75Tw2HVYGcA
.
And, of course, ANOTHER history lesson, this on efrom "The Book of Explorers", Chapter 1, from "The Boomer Bible":
.
"When the apes called Europeans decided to have a Modern Age, they realized that the would have to make a lot of history, as quickly as possible, because the nation that made the most history in the shortest period of time would probably become the Chosen Nation of Europe, chosen in the modern sense, that is, meaning richest and most powerful and therefore the most beloved by God, because they had learned during the Renaissance, from Machiavelli and the Borgia popes and other good examples, that God helps those who help themselves.
.
One of the best ways to make history is to discover something, like land that nobody else owns, and help yourself to everything in it, ana own it forever, and maybe even name it after yourself, which is how you get to be not only a Chosen Nation, but an Empire.
by The Chief on June 22nd, 2009
And so it happened that the great Modern Age began with a great race, by all the leading nations of Europe, including Italy, and Denmark, and Holland, and Portugal, and Spain, and France, And England, to discover the most new land in the shortest possible time, and the apes who were responsible for doing the discovering were called Explorers.
.
And so every nation started the race with its own particular advantages and disadvantages, from the most logical possible starting point."
.
.
And, from the OTHER side of the coin, here is a reading from Chapter 2 of "The Book of Others":
.
"For example, there were a lot of nations who thought they would be Chosen, when the time came, but when the time came, they didn't make it.
.
The Phoenicians invented the first alphabet, and sailing ships, and trade, and did a lot of exploring, long before the Greeeks and Romans started building monuments and temples and armies and all the rest, but it didn't work out for the Phonicians, and nobody remembers any of their names or their books or their cities or anything else they did.
.
Poor ba*stards.
by The Chief on June 22nd, 2009
The Carthaginians wanted to be Chosen so bad it hurt, and thanks to Hannibal and his elephants, then came THAT close, getting stopped just a few miles short of Rome, which wasn't close enough because the Romans couldn't be stopped short when they got to Carthage and destroyed it completely, forever.
.
Poor b*stards.
.
And there have been lots of Others who came close or thought they might someday, through all the thousands of years, including Trojans and Philistines, Koreans and Indochinese, Polynesians and Celts, Basques and Icelanders, and all the little nameless people, in all the countries of the world, who never knew what they were dying for, when all it was was history.
.
But there are always winners and losers, because that's the way history works, and the ones who were in the game wore at least a little while had it easy compared to the ones who never had a chance."
by The Chief on June 22nd, 2009
Any time you want more history, troll, feel free to ask. I can cite a LOT about how the entire human race is f*cked up, not just one small fraction representing a meager 4% of the human race and a nation which has only been around for a couple centuries compared to the more than 5,000 years that "nations" have been in existence.
by The Chief on June 22nd, 2009
I don't think that history, facts, or reality have much place in the eyes or minds of some people.
Why do you think I am so wary of loud-mouthed Bible-thumpers and flag-wavers? Not Christians and patriots mind you, just the unthinking zealots among them.
by 8 Jan 2004-10 Dec 2009 on July 10th, 2009
I hear you.
.
I just saw a Gunsmoke episode last week where someone was buried and the preacher doing the burial said "It seems a lot of people practice religion, but not many practice Christianity."
.
Really profound words.
