    Dumbledore is killed by Snape, but it was supposed to be Malfoy who killed him. Dumbledore knew about it and that Malfoy probably couldn't do it so he told Snape to do it so Voldemort wouldn't kill Malfoy for failing his mission and Snape made a vow to protect Malfoy. (*By Malfoy I mean Draco Malfoy, not Lucious Malfoy.)
