  • If your piggie is showing no signs of distress, it is not necessary. If you do, however, want to get it a friend make sure you take precautions and introduce it slowly. Some piggies don't want another friend in their cage others relish in it. If you end up in a situation where your little piggie doesn't like the new one; are you going to have the space or a new cage for this critter? If the answer is no, you may reconsider getting a new piggie. There are pet stores that allow you to take your piggie in, if you see a piggie you want-to gauge the reactions of the critters together. Calling your pet stores to see if this is ok is your best bet. Hope some of this helped you, good luck and sorry for your loss.
  • This happended to me a few years ago. I got my guinea pig a new friend after 2 days. She didnt like the new guinea pig one bit and was pushing and head butting it, but after a 3-4 days they got along just fine and are best friends.
  • yes you need to just give ur piggie about three months to get over the loss of her friend guinea pigs are herd animals and always need a companion or they will get stressed and have health issues. make sure u don't just put the new guinea pig in the cage honor the three week quarintine period to make sure nothing is wrong with you new pig. when yu go from petting one pig to the other before three weeks are up change your shirt pants and wash hands well. good luck.:)
  • They should not fight if u introduce them slowly.
