Why are there so many marsupials in Australia and New Zealand compared to elsewhere?

There are no marsupials in New Zealand.

Their's are just different because the evolved differntly. Look at the similarities between thoes and the ones in the US. The same markings but different where they have needed to change to suit their different environment.

Australia broke away from other landmasses millions of years ago.The mammals changed with the surroundings,and some evolved into marsupials.Since Australia is an island they are only indigenous to this island.
