Anyone else think that the immature-sounding "What's this pill?" question-askers might just be looking for a high?

What else could it be? How many pills does anyone mysteriously find laying around?

I agree, if these people need to know what they have found, they need to contact the poison control center in their area or a reliable website that can help identify the medication. Then they will know for sure what they have found. And beside that...would you honestly pop something in your mouth that you found laying around.

Take a look at the user's Profile.

Did they just set the account up today?

    Is it an anonymous account?

Are the only questions they ask about pills that they “found”?

Are you supposed to take medication that is not yours?

    Look at this question http://www.answerbag.com/.../124924

    They even ask about narcotics!

My pet theory is that some folks out there are snatching purses and need help in identifying the booty.

    John.

I think that in the event that ONE genuine question is asked about a "pill I found" , its worth answering all of them. Otherwise it would be refusing help to some, because others could possibly maybe nearly be trying to get high out of the medicine cabinet.

Yes, and I don't care. Better that they know what they are taking than not. That way, their friends can tell the emergency room doctors WHAT the sick person took that made them sick.

I also think that a lot of "what's this pill" questions come from parents.

i think that many of them are, but others are people who have found somebody else's pill - and they may be concerned (i.e. parents or friends)

They might be. The first couple of questions seemed like they might be legit. Then they became increasingly more frequent. It just seems like it's become a joke now and has become quite annoying. You don't know if it's serious or not and I'm not answering them if I know it can harm someone. I'm not going to enforce someone's drug habit if that's the case.

Honestly, if they find a pill lying around and take it, then get ill... They deserve it.

If they find a few of the same pill lying around, and are afraid that their child might find one and take it, then it is a legitimate question, but they should look it up themselves to get a more correct answer, much faster.

If it's just idle curiosity, they they should post it here, but... I don't think you'll be getting many accurate answers, if you get an answer at all, lol

Of course they are. At least they're troubling themselves to do a little research instead of just popping it, like some morons will do.

I'd think that anyone that finds a pill on the ground, no matter who they are, is smart enough to at least know what not to do with it without having to consult an internet forum.

My take is, for any of these questions, if you are so confused about what a pill is that you have to ask a bunch of know-it-alls like us, then you're better off just keeping out of you.

So, it's pretty obvious that they just want to know that they won't be dead by the next morning if they drop it.

I think they have found some drugs and want to know if it is safe to use them.

But parents can ask the same question.

May as well provide accurate info, than to mislead someone.

We should just refer everyone to this link which has a pill identification wizard.
