Help answer this question below.

I live in the state of illinois and wanted to get advise about obtaining a photo Id or what I can use to get my social security card. I dont have anything! Except my birth certificate. I lost my wallet with all my info in it.

    This is made so difficult, because of the major increase in theft identity. i understand your situation, but so do the thieves.

    Caution is the word today for re-issuing any personal identification.

    9-11 and theft identity are the reasons.

    Did you make a police report at the time of the loss of your wallet? if not, you should have. this report is a government document and would have made a replacement much easier for you.

    You can get a state id at the department of motor vehicles. Or you can call social security at 1 800 772 1213. When the automated system answers ask for an agent. Or you can go to the social security website at www.socialsecurity.gov

    theres a new law because of 9/11...

    you can't get a new ss card without your state id or license.

    you can't get your license or state id without your ss card.

    its utter bullshit, and i am suffering the exact same problem.


    however, after shedding massive tears and being told straight up NO WAY, JOSE despite going to both places (dmv and ssa) with my birth certificate, pay stubs, bills mailed to me, library card with photo, check cashing card with photo, work id with photo, and a bag of letters sent to my address and papers with my name and ss number on them.........


    i discovered a loop hole.

    if you have been to school at all, you can request your transcripts from them.

    apparently, if you take this to the social security, they will accept it as a form of ID.which is ludicris, but you will get your card.
    and from there, you can get your ID or license.


    i think this is a stupid law, because the dmv should be able to look your license up and see your picture on the screen, and match the info to your birth certificate, and you should be able to verbally tell them your ss number and show your paystubs for proof that it's real, since they should have it on record already.


    stupid law.
