Help answer this question below.

I live in ILL my son is 16 and his lawyer in my divorce and 2 theripst say it is not in my son best interest to be force to visit his father in Alaska who he has not seen in almost 2 years and has not ever met his new wife and her 3 kids. divorced 01/09

THE JUDGE SAID BY LAW HE CAN NOT RESTRICT VISITATION BUT WHY DOESNT THE THERAPIST AND MY SON LAWYERS REC. MEAN NOTHING. PLUS I READ SOMEWHERE RESTRICTING VISITATION TO OUTSIDE THE CONTINENTAL US IS NOT RESTRICTING HIS VISITATION RIGHTS.

- Unless the court ordered that the child not be taken from its jurisdiction,he can go to Alaska,Rome, and or Moscow.It is really all the same.The Therapists and Lawyer get to have there thoughts heard by the court,but they do not get a vote.Only the Judge does.I agree that he should not be "Force" to go.So you must do everything on your end to make him feel comfortable with the whole thing.You have a duty until he turns 18 to not get in the way of any visitation and not to "poison the waters".Call the ex and talk this over and leave you feelings out of this.
