Not even close. The NHL is way too competitive. A team like Boston or Washington is just as young and talented, and don't rule out Detroit.
Don't they have to breed together to start a dynasty?
A dynasty? In Gary Bettman's "new winner each year" NHL? Forget it.
no because the San Jose Sharks are going to win the Cup this year.
It could happen, but the NHL is super competitive. It is very hard to start a dynasty in any league, let alone the NHL. Pittsburgh is probably as close as any other team though.
if they can keep their core together, its very possible.
Doubtful. The NHL is too competitive right now, and Detroit showed how difficult it is to repeat championships, despite the fact that they are the closest thing to a "dynasty" we have seen since the Oilers were good. The Pens look a little weak on the blue line this year and teams like San Jose, Boston, Washington and Chicago are clamoring to carve their places in hockey history. The Pens are good, and have a shot at the Cup, but this statement applies to almost a dozen other teams as well. On pure probability, I don't see it happening
It's pretty hard to start a dynasty with the NHL's salary cap. Malkin and Crosby are a lock for quite some time, however half of their defense are UFA's after this season.
Yes. Their two stars are both fairly young, Crosby 21 and Malkin 22, and have a good 24 year old goalie in Fleury. If they can bring back Fedotenko and Satan, they'll be winning many more championships.
Do you think the penguins will not do great now that sid the kid will be out for at least 6 to 8 weeks, maybe longer?
