To get your nails done, is it a good idea to go to a salon and have them done, buy plastic ones, or is growing them out and painting them yourself okay? I want to grow mine out, so i don't waste the money of having them done, i'm wondering whats best.

The Chief prefers NOT to get his toe nails done at all.

But he lives in mortal fear of his daughters getting the idea of painting them when he's taking a nap on the couch...

I prefer getting my nails done in the salon. A "fill" is only $15-$20. My nails are stronger than just my natural nails, look better, and don't break off. Besides, a girl's gotta do something for herself sometimes.

Grow em out, Theyll be healthy...I grow all my nails out...they are long, white...thick...healthy, I dont even paint em, Just keep em clean...and filed. They look better then fake nails...Plus 1 wont just "fall off"

I grow mine out and just but a clear coat on them to protect them. My nails grow fast so I don't think there would be a reason for me to have to go to a salon every week to "touch up".
Not really big on going to salons lol I would rather spend the money on something else really.
Only time I did was for prom, and that was the first and last time.
I would tell you to just go natural. All the chemicals actually ruin your real nails and make them fragile.

I grow mine. I feel that those salon nails with the acrylics weakens them but thats just my opinion.

Well,I have never gone to a salon.I just do mine myself.I paint and file if they need and can fix a chip in the color if needed because I have it here.I get compliments on them,often.People ask where I got them done...They do break sometimes but I file it smooth.I am not delicate with them.They seem to grow faster in summmer...I believe the fake nails are very bad for the real nail.Because I`ve known people who say if you use the fake it damages and you have to wait for it to grow off...Sometimes I cut open a liquid calcium vitamin,or liquid vitamin E and let it soak into nails for a few minutes and then wash well, before I paint.Seems to make them a little stronger.

I had fake nails for many years, now I grow my out! I will say I do like the fake ones, but they do cost to keep them up!

I like my natural nails. Its hard to keep them really long but file them daily and they will look good. Fake nails are bad.
