  • my cat does the same thing! he also like munches on my skin and he just cant stand it. he is an outside cat and on most cats that is a place where there are lots fleas. and it is also kind of a soothing spot on a cats body. (thats what my vet told me)
  • Believe it or not, the cat is trying to 'help'. They can reach that area, but it is more difficult for them. All cats do this. Its completely normal, and even if he seems like he may even bite you while you scratch - he's just saying 'oh that feels good..here let me help too!" :)
  • You are activating a mating response. When a male cat mounts a female cat, he bites (not hurtful) at the base of her neck and then uses his hind legs to "comb" or "scratch" the two sides of her back around the tail area. This triggers the rising of the butt and lowering of the head, thus putting the female cats vagina in the proper position to mate. The response is in males and females of all cat species. There is no answer to why males do it, othe than it is instinctual. Unlike dogs, male cats never try to copulate homosexually. Two males will fight ferociously before allowing one to mount the other.
