My BF is trying to figure out what to buy me for my 21st, all his work mates say " you know that all she is going to want is engagement ring" so he keeps making sure i know that is NOT what i am getting, I get it, but why does he keep going on about it!?

It is starting ot get a little frustrating. that is not what i was expecting at allll! but nearly eevry day he just needs to let me know AGIAN, that i am not getting a diamond ring just yet haha.... silly boy!

Possibly he loves you so much, he isn't ready for marriage, but he doesn't want you to be hurt or to expect something he isn't ready to give you. My boyfriend let me think he was going to propose to me one year for Christmas, he never did, and my whole day was ruined because of it. I was mostly in shock that he let me believe it! He was the one that implied it. Maybe he doesn't want your birthday ruined by you not getting something you had hoped for. And in a dream world there could be the off chance he is going to ask you and wants to make sure you're extra surprised :)

He probably wants to absolutely sure that you know his intention because he doesn't want to have to deal with the outfall of what would happen is you DID think you were getting an engagement ring. Also, maybe his workmates are making him feel awkward are it and he can't say that to them, so he keeps saying it to you instead.

He might BE getting you a ring but hes playing it off like he isnt so you'll be surprised.

Because the guys are freaking him out and he doesnt want to hurt you. Maybe you could say something like, I dont want a ring, theres other things like a necklace etc.

Well, maybe he just is trying to make sure you don;t get your hopes up... Which also means he cares that much, and thought it through. You've got a good one I think!
