I know the feeling... I think time is longer here because in meatspace, we're constantly bombarded by perceptions and experiences. But here, some things take a little time to load, and people take time to reply, individually, each of those little chunks of lost time doesn't add up to much, but cumulatively, we end up losing a lot of time sitting around waiting for things to load, and people to reply to questions and comments and such. Which makes it seem like much longer than it really is. Happy 6 month aniversary, Stableboy!

I think it has to do with the intensity of the answers and threads. The questions often bring issues to the forefront that you don't necessarily discuss with your co-workers, friends and family members on a daily basis. On Answerbag it happens every day, and often many times a day. Our minds tell us, if we discussed all that stuff, it must have taken a lot longer than 6 months, because we are accustomed to a less intense process in our meatspace lives. Do you think this means we will virtually age more quickly?

Hi Stableboy, I feel the same way. It feels like forever. However, your profile shows as though you joined on Dec 20, 2006. Is it because you rejoined as new member or what?
-
because it can get boring and monotounous after a while... take a break or something.

Bloody hell! 6 months! I feel like I've known you forever! (Which is a good thing of course). It's crazy, but I really can't remember what life was like before you and other newish members (basically people who joined after me), like BAM. Life on here must have been very dull compared to now. After I'd been a member for 6 months, I also felt like I'd been here years, I think everybody sort of comes together as a community and if you're a valuable member, then you're just accepted and time doesn't matter. It just runs away with you, and before you know it, years are gone! It's a side effect of the 'Bag. I also think Lyn makes a very valid point about discussions, so I won't bother repeating it here :) I'd comment on the 'meatspace' thing but I've never heard that expression before, I haven't got a clue what you mean ;) It must be American speak..?

I have been here about 10 weeks with a two week break and feel as if I have been here forever, Well almost forever maybe I am becoming a little prone to exaggeration

Me and you both SB. I shall tell you why I reckon it is, and see if you agree. Right, think about the amount of times you make a new friend in a day. Really, in real life with all the distractions and stuff we have to do, making even 1 new friend a day is extremely rare. Yet on here, it's just a constant stream of new people. Also, think about the time you have spent on Answerbag. I'm guessing it's a fair few. When you are such a user as one to be on here consistently, this becomes part of your life. Maybe not a huge part, but still a part. And soon, enough time passes where you forget what you used to do before you answerbagged with your time. Then think about just how absorbed you are in the life of answerbag as it were. How much you actually care about the people on here. The amazing friends. The quest for knowledge. The hundreds of people you have helped. It's a lot really, for a website, isn't it? Plus, it takes far longer to type things then say them, then you have to think of the answers and the questions and comments to be the most effective/witty. Here, you get a chance to do that. Or maybe people like me and you are just getting old? Hehe Well done on your 6 months SB, and let us hope there are many more months to come
