  • You probably can't. In most states, school attendance is compulsory until age sixteen. You can, however, switch to home school, and I wouldn't blame you at all if you wanted to. Talk to your parents. As long as there is someone available to supervise you, there are online accredited schools. There are DVD based programs where you watch an accredited teacher teach a lesson and do the bookwork on your own. Schools are out of control, and I don't blame any kid who would rather study at home. Here is one resource that is offering school via DVD and if you pay for them to grade your work and record it, they offer an accredited school. If you chose not to, you just take the GED and the SAT or ACT when you are ready and you shouldn't have any trouble with getting into college or trade school. There are plenty of other homeschool resources, this is just one example. I'm using this program, and it is very user friendly and rigorous. http://abeka.com/ By the way, one of my neighbors is working nights and homeschooling by day. Her daughter is thriving, and is learning to cook and clean in order to take the load off mom so she can sleep in between. It is worth it to her to help run the house so that she can stay home.
