If you both decided to take a break, then it is not technically cheating. If you felt like you were cheating, then maybe you should revisit the "break" and if it is really what you want.

"Take a break"? What the heck are you talking about? Either you are a couple or you are NOT a couple. If you are in a relationship together and decide to "take a break", then what the heck does that mean? You just don't see each other, but you're STILL in a relationship? You don't "take a break" from each other as some kind of test of fidelity or something. If you're NOT a couple, then YOU ARE NO LONGER IN A MONOGAMOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH OTHER! What, you're afraid the other person might not come back? Then why "take a break" in the first place? Here's an idea: If one or both of you are somehow "scared" of being too close, or you don't "feel" like you're going anywhere in the relationship, or any number of other reasons people might want to "take a break"...THEN CALL IT OFF! There is no shame in breaking up formally, if it isn't working out for some reason. DEFINE WHAT "TAKE A BREAK" MEANS to each other. Not us. You and your s/o. THAT'S where you find the answers to whether or not it's OK, because you TALKED to each other and let each other know these things!
