Whenever I try to log on to Oracle9i SQL *Plus, I get an error message:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. What's wrong ad how can I fix it?

    This is a generic error and as such there could be many reasons for this. It requires troubleshooting. The first thing to look at are your (IP) addressed, check that they are properly specified in your listener.ora and that the listener is running correctly, then check your tnsnames.ora. Use tnsping to test. Ping your hosts. Try a traceroute to your host. Or finally you can turn on oracle net tracing to find your problem.
