I've been married for 14 years and my husband had an affair in 2007 and again this year. He works for the govenrment and goes in and out of the country a lot and his pay varies. How will I know what will they base my alimony on?

    it could be the last paycheck, and he will be required to answer period asset questionnaires to determine if the alimony needs to be readjusted. by all means, get proof of the affair, and list all assets. there are guys that have been known to sell property, get cash money, and then claim poverty. there are guys that have also emptied out all joint bank accounts and literally left their wives peniless, unable to buy groceries. be careful, and if need be take necessary precautions, like having an emergency cash fund, and don't be afraid to record him you will be surprised how many times a woman will have a simple conversation with her husband and he makes false allegations of death threats, etc in court. a recording of conversations will protect you in court if need be.
