I would start by ordering a subscription to Writer's Digest Magazine. You can find out a whole lot of information for writers in there. Go to Amazon.com and do a search for a book called: Writers Market 2009, it lists the publishers, what they want, how they want it submitted, etc. It's a lot more fun to write your book than it is to get it sold. You might also want to check the other books with information for writers. Or online, visit WritersMarket.com, and see what they have to offer. Good Luck young lady, and just keep writing! There is also a WritersDigest.com Book Club, or WritersDigest Book club by mail, but the books are pretty pricey. I usually find them there, then I order them from Amazon. Or sometimes you can find them on their website called ClearanceBooks.com., if you're lucky. They sell their overtocks there. Or try HamiltonBooks.com. too. Their prices are unbelievably low, so I always check there too before buying anything. They sell overstocks too. Just try everything, read everything, and go for it! If you're already writing this young, you may have a real shot at being successful. Keep learning too. It often takes years to find a publisher who wants exactly what you have. It's a matter of personal taste, so hang in there. You have to be able to accept rejection, keep learning, and keep writing! Write every day, write anything and everything. Just keep those typing figures moving! My biggest regret is that I never started writing when I was young. I think it's too late for me now, since it takes so many months between submissions. I couldn't live long enough to submit things one at a time like that and wait. My only hope is to self-publish at my age. But it's not too late for you.

Also, if you have any money to use, you can investigate self-publishing companies called Print-on-Demand companies. If you type "P.O.D. publishers" into a Google search you'll get bombarded with names! But at fourteen, I think you'll need your parents help in making these decisions and spending the money. I wish you all the best of luck! You GO Girl!

  • Look at the book you are referencing. There should be an address for the publisher listed.

If not, you can at least get the name of the publisher and search for the street address online.
