  • I cannot imagine that any religion is trained to hate.Grant it all religions are suspicious of other religions for each think only their religion is the right one.I think the issue is political and not religious when it comes to misunderstandings.Countries need to learn more about other countries and their culture than the misconceptions would cease.
  • islam literally means "peace." i don't think any religion particularly teaches "hate/hatred," after all, a book is a book, even as holy as it may be...it is an object. what is dangerous is when people read that "book" and handpick lines and use that as their rationale for doing dangerous things. just like any other belief system, all muslims believe that their belief is the "right" one...unfortunately, some people do not want to see others who are "wrong" around them...just like in any other religion. there is a quote in the quran (i prefer this spelling) which states something like, "you have your religion, and i have mine." which really shows that true islam welcomes other religions and beliefs and we should all be able to live in peace. i'm glad you brought up your question and i do not take offense to it at all. i live in an islamic nation currently, in fact, the most islamic you'll ever find. i live in saudi arabia.
  • It's both.
  • Religions don't specifically train people to hate. They teach that they are right and everyone else is wrong and that it is offensive to say otherwise. That's what causes all the trouble. If everyone is right and everyone else is wrong, there is going to be trouble.
  • religions don't teach hatred. so to answer your question, no. Islam means peace.
  • No...islam is about peace not hatred..
  • Whether or not it teaches hate, the Islamic nations are fairly open with their intense hatred of Israel and Western Culture. You should watch some of those youtube videos with arabic kids singing how they'll become suicide bombers and blow up Israels--it's downright creepy. Especially look up their version of Mickey Mouse. If I recall correctly, he either gets shot dead by Israeli troops or blows himself up. You might also look up their brutal treatment of women. Islam may claim peace, but they sure hide any peaceful urges well.
  • Yes it does. Hatred of the infidel. Hatred of those not themselves. http://www.faithfreedom.org/testimonials.htm
  • The Quran doesn't exactly teach hate, although many interpret it to do so. Not so sure about the Hadiths. Some of those can be pretty strange.
  • OK. I'll take you at your word that you don't mean anything offensive by this. We need to talk about a couple of terms that show up in your question, first. The adjectival form of Islam is "Islamic." So, it would be more accurate if your question had referred to "people of Islamic descent." Also, you should just say Islam, rather than "the islam religion." When you refer to the "islam nation," you need to know that there's not any such thing. There are nations where Islam is the official religion -- and there are far more of those than just one. And they're very different from each other -- the Islamic nations of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Pakistan, for example, have profound differences that can't be ignored. Now on the direct subject of your question -- No. Islam does not teach hatred. But some people use it to teach hatred. The Holy Quran, no less than the Bible (which is the book of my faith -- I'm a Methodist)teaches a system of piety and faith. There is a perhaps inevitable degree of exclusion inherent in this -- at least in the sense that when you say "This is the way," you are inherently saying that other ways aren't "the way." Some people take this as license to exclude, discriminate against, harrass or even kill people who don't follow "THE way." As with any system of belief, you will always find somebody who will use his or her faith as a blunt instrument to deny that people who follow other faiths are worthy of respect. These people tend to be louder, and noisier, than others. It doesn't mean that they're representative of the true tenets of their faith - it just means they're louder.
  • Come on op, you already know the answer to this, islam may mean peace but we both know that there book teaches nothing but hate to anyone who doesn't convert.
  • 1) Is this a question about the organization called "Nation of Islam" ? "As of 2005, the Nation of Islam was included in the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of active hate groups in the United States." Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam 2) Islam does not specifically teach hate. Like most religions, it has a peaceful and a hateful side. It mainly depends on the interpretation. The hate that some Muslims have would possibly still exist if they were not Muslims. But there is certainly hate not only in some people, but also in some religious leaders. Also in Christianity (or in other religions), the declarations about universal love have never stopped those people to do hateful things.
  • Any religion can have splinter factions that use their scripture to justify hate. Look at the abortion clinic bombers and killers. Look at the Fred Phelps clan or the Jonestown commune. It's my understanding most Muslims don't like the Taliban or Al Queda any more than Westerners. There has been tension, yes, between the US and some Islamic countries. If a nation with different culture and values halfway around the earth dictated how we govern and what can and cannot to, how would we react? The more people understand each other, the less fear they have. The less fear they have, the less hatred.
  • Of course not! It seems to me that there are waaay more similarities between Islamic and Christian beliefs than differences. But regardless of whatever religious text to which you subscribe, they're all subject to interpretation. And invariably, there's always 'fundamentalists', extremists and maniacs in any population - religious or otherwise! And *they're* the ones preaching hatred.
  • I’m not a religious person but I believe Islam has been given a bad name due to people claiming to be of Islamic faith. So to answer your question I think it is the way Islam has been brought up.
  • well, someone explained this to me yesterday... there are many people in the middle east who can not read or write. So, they have leaders they look up to that tell them what the Quaran "says". Whatever their leaders say, those people take their word for it. So, if a leader is crooked, of course they will tell their followers whatever just for their own hate. I have Islamic friends that tell me the Quaran actually talks about peace a lot and that these radicals are not really true followers of Islam. But, this is all based on what I was told. If I were you, I would research and actually pick up a translated version and see what it says for yourself. Then you would KNOW exactly whats going on. knowledge is the key to understanding. unfortunately, the majority of people don't know what's really going on, therefore we're all at war in some way.
  • well...its not Islam itself that teaches hatred, but its the teachers of islam that teaches hatred. The extremist. Not all islam followers hate people. But the same goes for christianity, back in the day the Roman Catholics destroyed millions of people...only cuz the church was jaded and taught wrong, they didnt spread love and peace...but hatred, and murder. Its not always the religion or "belief" that hate comes from, but the ones teaching it...and its "out of context" teaching.
