  • Using a big floor jack, jack up the rear axle at the differential to remove the axle's weight from the springs (get it to about level). Remove the rear shock absorbers. If you have a rear sway bar, you will probably need to disconnect this now (I recommend removing it permanently -- it's not needed). Unbolt the U-bolts from the springs, and slowly lower the axle far enough to get access to the single bolt that centers the leaves. Unbolt that bolt -- slowly -- this will let the individual leaves separate. Be careful with the rear brake lines; you don't want to rip them out by hanging the axle off them. Next, using your 1/2" socket, 10mm Socket and Allen Wrenches, remove the bolts holding the lower belt cover on, and remove. Then using the 13mm box wrench, loosen the bolt on the timing belt tensioner and release tension to the belt. Now you can remove your old timing belt. Next you will see the distributor gear and spark plugs. Remove spark plugs, put in new ones, reassemble.
