From what I have learned, he was also very well educatated and disciplined. I'm not sure he had many other political assets. He was not an attractive man who projected well on TV. He was also an introvert whom people did not find personally likeable. Based on history, he also had a dark personality that made him paranoid and contributed to his downfall. For students of history, he is a fascinating political character.

Nixon was a very independent thinker and unafraid to break with others when he thought he knew best. Also, his distrustful, hard and calculating nature made it difficult for others to get the better of him. He definitely a pretty cold-eyed realist.
Some take pride in being vilified. Those who were on Richard Nixon's "Enemies List" seemed honored to be there. Would you?
