Just got my new dell Inspiron machine, the machine came preinstalled with Vista Business Addition. Right away I booted it up and it told me about some 3rd party driver that i'm still not sure what it is used for is not working. But the computer looks great and man I figure I have the latest and greatest so I move forward. I hook up the latest hp all-in-one fax, printer, scanner, copier to it. Try to install the HP software for it and it tells me that it doesn't support it yet. I go to HPs web site and it they only have the basic drivers, the software has not been ported to Vista yet. Ok, that's fine I figure, at least I have the latest and greatest which means I'm cool right? Next, I try to make my system a dual boot, suse 10.2 with Vista.. When I get to the part of partitioning the drive for Linux, Linux says that I should run a diagnostic on the fs and see what problem I get, after spending 4 hours trying to find out what vista has done that Suse can't install I move on.. So, my advice don't go to vista, stay with Windows 2003, or XP. There are too many drivers, software programs that are not supported yet. Better yet save yourself the worry of virusus, spam, etc and move to Linux.
