Well, later that night I got the feeling everyone was conspirating so I couldn't understand one word they were saying. And my friend was playing cards with me, wearing sunglasses (it was like 3am or something like that), making me feel very nervous. It was like a Class B movie.

On this "job" I got a lucky phone call after posting a resume on the Army Civilian Personnel Online website. My short time in the Army helped since I was able to use the Disabled Veteran's Preference to get my foot in the door. Now I'm 5 years in and I'm definitely going for the long haul.

Which start? I've had a few in my 54 working years. Actually, in retrospect, I've gotten just about every job I've ever had through networking. I knew someone who knew someone. That's why I always say, if you're looking for a job, go through your phone list and make sure to call EVERYONE and inquire if they know of anyone looking for your skills.

Amazing actually. I was looking for work at an employment agency, and constantly got nothing. One day, I walked out and a man in a ute asked me if I had a trade, which I did. He then asked me if I wanted to go interstate for a job for a short period. I did. A year later, I was running the office.
