  • That's simply not true. Their views mirror the general population's disagreement with late term abortion. MD's are regular people with medical degrees. On average, most people repudiate 3rd trimester abortions.
  • I wish we could tone down the rhetoric on both sides of this debate. I don't think anyone in their right mind "likes" abortion. It's no more something you would want than any other major surgery. And it does take a potential human life. But remembering the horrors of desperate women using coat hangers, I don't want to see us go back to things as they were before Roe versus Wade. I'd love to see most of us -- those not on the lunatic fringes -- get behind the things that, as the President says, we can all support. Let's work to eliminate unwanted pregnancies and ensure that there are viable adoption alternatives for any woman who wishes to carry her baby to term.
  • Where do you get your information from - the link you posted certainly does not claim that the vast majority of doctors support late term abortions. In fact, an embedded link states that George Tiller was "one of the few late term abortionists in the Nation!" To be honest, I am sick of the whole debate - for as long as we have unwanted pregnancies we will have abortions. FACT! There is no way any government, in their right mind, would overturn a womans' right to terminate a pregnancy - that would cause riots! PROBABLE! If, heaven forbid, that were the case making abortion illegal would not stop the practise. FACT! Shouldn't we all be chanelling effort into educating people about contraception, and making it less of a stigma to carry a child to term and then put it up for adoption? Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice we would have a lot more impact if we could stand together and fight for something we can ALL believe in!
  • I take issue with your ridiculous claim that "the vast majority of doctors see no problem with late-term abortions"... where do you get your evidence for that statement? I have worked in the medical field since probably before you were born....and I would say that the absolute opposite is true. I know personally of NO doctor who performs late-term abortion. I know there are some....but I have never met one. I know of some who will induce labour in a problem pregnancy where the mother's life or the baby's life is in danger. Sometimes the baby survives, sometimes not. That is NOT an abortion.
  • This will help answer some of the questions on why the vast majority of doctors do in fact support abortions of all types, including late-term: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1492292 At least for those who want real answers.
  • I am a physician, and I have written chapters for textbooks. I know of no other physician anywhere who supports elective third trimester abortions. Your question is irresponsibly worded at best, and more accurately described as deliberately inciting.
