  • Some will say that jealousy is not all bad, but I say that this is just another problem with the bible.
  • He's mighty. It is a warning too fear Yahweh!
  • exactly...again just another case of mankind instilling human traits and mannerisms in their gods. It would be impossible for a god to exist who was both jealous and perfect.
  • if god existed he would not have emotions. emotions happen when we react to information we did not previously have. such as seeing a girl prettier than u makin eyes at your man, or someone who has a nicer car. it would not exist if we had have allready known that person was coming or existed, because we would have accepted it. God knows all, he has no new information to react to. he cannot get angry or jealous or sad. that being said, christians also claim that god says to protect unborn life, but many passages in the bible have god smoting women, purposely killing their unborn children and suckling babies. why would they pray to him?
  • Because He wanted us to know that He is the only real God.
  • God has a different type of jealousy. He is jealous for our well being, he sees us making wrong choices and wants what is best for us...Him.
  • Nothing wrong with God being jealous about us serving other God's.
  • Its meaning jelous as in...when he sees his children bowing down and worshipping another God other than him. If he is the creator and they are nothing more but statues who have ears but cannot hear, and eyes but cannot see...Yeah he would be jelouse. He would wish that you worship him and not that other thing. Something false.
  • "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments." Exodus 20:5 This type of jealous is not a sin. In Exodus 20:5, it is not that God is jealous or envious because someone has something He wants or needs. God is jealous when someone gives to another something that rightly belongs to Him. Perhaps a practical example will help you understand the difference. If a husband sees another man flirting with his wife, he is right to be jealous, for only he has the right to flirt with his wife. This type of jealousy is not sinful. Rather, it is entirely appropriate. Being jealous for something that God declares to belong to you is good and appropriate. Jealousy is a sin when it is a desire for something that does not belong to you. Worship, praise, honor, and adoration belong to God alone, for only He is truly worthy of it. Therefore, God is rightly jealous when worship, praise, honor, or adoration is given to idols.
