  • The first and foremost thing in all religions is to demonstrate that they are the one true religion, and all others are false. The best way to do that... point out their "flaws". And as far as "Atheists, don't bother...." I was raised a Catholic (private schools and scholarships...) and am as qualified as anyone to answer.
  • I think people do that beca....oh wait I'm an atheist.
  • I'm an atheist and I WILL bother asking. Your snarky comment at the end made you just as bad as those preachers that say JW's don't believe in Jesus. You made a snap jusgment and you're WRONG! Why are you wrong? Because this atheist was a JW for 18 years since birth! Most Athiests have previous religious backgrounds. Now, that said, of course they believe in Jesus. Apparently, Jesus is the SON OF GOD born to man. Jesus was not God himself or the Holy Spirit itself, but one and only one of the three, not all three. Yeah, it's in the name of his son JC. However, god is the "father" and creator so they worship god and gain entry to his kingdom through his son Jesus Christ. So, because the JW's don't make Christ the end all be all and call him God, that's why idiots think they don't believe in Jesus. YOU CAN'T BE CHRISTIAN IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE! OPEN A BOOK SOMETIME.
  • The reason you are seeking is probably answered just as you asked - meaning that, as you said, some preachers are misguided. There are many types of ordained ministers pastoring in churches around the world. Some go through extensive training including seminary and college, where they would spend a lot of time studying and comparing different religions and sects. On the other end of the scale are those that are trained withing their own church by another minister who him/herselm may not have been formally trained, and then they are ordained by the lay preacher and put to work ministering in the church. For those people who are ignorant in certain respects, the best we can do is to hope that, at the very least, they are wise enough to be reading forums such as this one and trying to fill in missing pieces of their education. If you care to leave a comment to this message stating some of your beliefs as a Jehovah's Wittness, maybe you can help others reading these messages learn more about your faith.
  • I’m not Jehovah’s Witness, but I am also a member of a Christian Church that often gets labeled a “cult” and ascribed all sorts of erroneous beliefs, so I know *exactly* what you’re talking about. My guess is that this kind of individual is operating out of fear and using it as a tool, to scare others into following him or her. If one doesn’t think his or her argument is strong enough to convince someone, the next best thing is to belittle the opposing argument until one’s own looks good, by comparison. (Ironically, I’ve even had Jehovah’s Witnesses try to do this, with me: ascribe false teachings to my religion, thus creating an easily defeated “straw man” argument. I certainly don’t claim that all Jehovah’s Witnesses are like this, but I’ve definitely come across a few that are.) HTH!
  • Mainstream Christians do not consider your "belief" in Jesus the same as theirs. Muslims "believe" in Jesus too but not in the same way. Jehovah Witnesses do not accept the trinity model accepted by most Christians. They see the JW version of Jesus as heretical. It's not so much "misguided" as it is a difference in interpretation of scripture. If they saw your view of jesus the same as you, then they would likely be JW too. You do realize telling people not to answer is just asking for people who would have otherwise ignored the question to jump right in? You are better off not mentioning it. If you want only a certain group to answer questions, you should go to a more private forum like a christian site. It's like a white supremacist having an event and putting up a big sign that says "No Niggers allowed!" odds are black people would not have come anyway (at least not in large numbers), but making a big deal out of the fact that they are not invited is just asking for unwanted attention. Besides, you might actually get a less biased answer.
  • I am an atheist, but I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. I would imagine that the "misguided preacher" is referencing the JW's belief that Jesus is not god, while many Christian sects believe him to be so.
  • I ran out of room to finish the last sentence. If you have a answer to the question, Please, By all means, post it. I don't care who you are or what you believe. I just didn't want a bunch of people telling me I am wrong to even believe in god and try to start a argument.
