Technically yes, because you can send a letter to a postal employee. Oh, and that central light on your keyboard means that caps lock is on. You might want to do something about that....

only if they think theres something prohibited like drugs, weapons, anything dangerous really. If they detect something, legally they have the right to check for the safety of all. Tough but fair :). Plus 3 points.

only if it is a threat or carries something illegal inside it (eg a cig lighter etc. Any other interference with mail is illegal and carries a jail sentence. (only in developed countries though, not in South East Asia sigh)

NO, a postal employee cannot open your mail. If they do, they could possibly lose their job. The only postal employees that are empowered to open mail is the people that work at the Dead Letter Office. They open undeliverable mail that is also not returnable (no return address or illegible) in an attempt to determine who it belongs to. We must have a court order to turn over mail to a government agency, but still we don't open it. A package that is suspicious may be opened or destroyed. The only type of mail that can be opened by a postal employee is "Media Mail." This is the old "book rate" mail. We are authorized to open media mail to see that it contains only items eligible for the lower postage rate.

In this country it was against the law to open mail ddressed to anyone else because it is considered to be the Queens until it is delivered.

Obviously in these times of letter bombs etc this maybe oerlooked in certain cases
