If you were homeless and the all the governments dissapeared... would you try to build your own house from natural materials on what was formerly stolen as government land or try to steal someone elses house?

I'd love to build my own 'earthship' style home. Complete with my own water, power, etc. built in.

I don't think you'd need to do either as in all likelihood you could cut some sort of a deal with someone who had an extra room. No government means no cops... most of the people currently living alone would tend to start looking for housemates to provide a little security through strength in numbers.

Most folks would devolve down to petty larceny and rape-gangs. Most "homes" would become castles out of necessity. Eventually enough folks would band together, and start their own mini-governments to prevent the raiders.
