When that cat is treatable, but is already too far gone to be saved anyway.

I would check with the vet and tell them how your cat is acting. I would think as long as your cat wasn't in pain and is able to function properly but other then that check with the vet. Good luck!

For us, it was when we knew he had a cancerous growth in his abdomen and he stopped eating and drinking. We did get a second opinion on the growth before making the decision. But once our 14 pound cat was under 10 pounds and so lethargic he wouldn't drink from a bowl next to him - we knew it was time to let him go.

We are in the same bout with our 8 yr old cat "Sugar", has a large fluid filled cyst, and seems to be loosing muscle and weight, eats alittle drinks alittle, still fighting, such a stubborn cat but we know he is just doing it for us. We dont want to but the moaning sounds when its really hurting hurts us so much. So the way i feel is we are going to haveto Put him down, or he wont let go til its just to painful to hang on... Dammed cats, why cant they just out live us, make situations like this so much easier!

I would hate to have to do that to my cat. My cat is 18 and I'm 15. He's been with me my whole life, and just the thought of losing him nearly brings me to tears. Losing a pet is never easy.

My cat had cancer on her nose. I took it to the vet and he said she doesn't seem to be in pain. when she doesn't want to eat or starts to lie down a lot (cats do that a lot!) then i should bring her in again. last year her nose started to look really bad, so they had to put her down. was really very sad. the vets usually do a blood test to be accurate on diagnosis i think? good luck!

when seeing the cat in pain is tearing you up inside because you love the cat to much to watch your baby suffer any longer.

I had to put my dog to sleep recently, It's time when they start suffering and cant enjoy life anymore. Its a very hard thing to do but its sometimes the best thing you can do.

when life isnt ebjoyable anymore or if they are suffering and there quality of life is reduced
