I'm affraid of no control when I'm in the back of an aircraft. I earned my pilot license BEFORE I was ever on a commercial aircraft and they don't put controls in the rear seats.
The terrorism thing and airport security is a crock to make sheeple feel good. If you want it to be safe, arm all the passengers.
As far as crashes?
Many are related to weather, damn few mechanical issues. Most passengers would rather have the pilot shoot an approach at minimums so they won't be late for their business meeting or vacation connection. Never mind that a landing at an alternate might give them the major inconvenience of being alive.
