  • I looked up Wikipedia and it says only this: Paula Patton is an American actress. She is the wife of songwriter/singer Robin Thicke. They were married on 11 June 2005 in Santa Barbara, California. Looking at her, I would doubt it, but then, does it really matter, if she is a talented lady?
  • When I first saw her I was unsure of what her race was, you never know these days (although she did look as though she were a little black at different angles). However, she was nominated at the Black Reel awards for her role in Deja Vu, alongside Denzel Washington. This award show only honors African American actors and actresses, so that would lead me to believe that she is definately at least half Black.
  • This is funny...I am reading this posting and can cleary tell the authors must NOT be black :-) Because any black person knows that Paula Patton IS black. Now I can't say if one of her parents is white... not sure. BUT Robin Thicke is her hubby and he has said his wife is black. Plus it's kinda obvious by looking at her. In the movie Deja Vu her father is white but it's pretty clear Paula is not white. It's funny you all seem to think she is white. Did you also think Mariah Carey was 100% white???? If so, that is really funny :-) Black people knew she was at least half black.
  • The guy playing her dad in Deja Vu is Hispanic, he was the prison gang leader in Blood In, Blood Out, Bound By Honor.
  • In my opinion her features look east african but i think she's just half african-american.
  • Why does it matter. In this day in age, we're still trapped in a mistic fog. She's black indeed. Why is it So hard to except and believe that she is black? Paula's a very attractive Black women. It's obvious we as people think so narrow minded, such as a black woman can't be this attractive. Wake up world, beauty comes in evey shade....
  • you guys are dumb and I have noticed that white people don't have a good grasp on who is who if they had to choose a race out of a line up. so if your white don't make comments, you prolly think Hollie berry is white idiots. who ever said i don't see it haha your dumb and white obviously... I don't see it huh... and then you have a pic of her and Andre 300. she wouldn't be able to be in the Andre 3000 movie if she were white, they would never cast her.
  • too let you guys know she ain't half anything the women herself says she is just black haha you guys all feel dumb now
  • Here is a direct quote from thick himself too shat everyone up Even though Robin Thicke has been coined a "blue-eyed-soul artist," joining the ranks of Jon B and Justin Timberlake, his blue-eyed soulness wasn't enough to get on the cover of Vibe Magazine. According Robin Thicke, the magazine has a strict policy against having "white" artists on the cover ! While promoting his forthcoming album earlier this summer, an interview with Vibe went wrong according to the "Magic" singer. During the interview Thicke reportedly asked why he could not cover an issue of the magazine --- their response "We don't put white artists on our covers.." Since the release of his breakthrough album "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" featuring the hit singles "Lost Without You" and "Can You Believe," which both charted well on the R&B and pop charts, Thicke has garnered quite a following amongst R&B and Soul music fans. So what's up with the cold shoulder from Vibe ? Recalling the situation with Vibe Thicke says "This is a magazine I love. If there's one magazine that I'd want to be on the cover of, it's Vibe. The only white artist they've had on the cover was Eminem. I guess if that's what it is, it is what it is." Even though he got the cold shoulder from the magazine when it came down to the cover, Thicke says "I respect that because I live in a house with a black woman. I won't use the word racism. I will say it's a tough -- but rewarding -- fight.
  • paula pattons mother is black & her father is black & white so that makes her black!!! who cares if she's mixed she obviously claims her black ethnicity more than her white. a direct quote from her "my mother told me when people see me they see a black woman not a bi-racial woman"
  • Oh...what does it matter what her race is? She is both...mixed...so what's the problem with that? Only because the white man said u are black if u have 1/8th percent of black in u, doesn't make it true. I feel that people that are mixed should not just claim one side of their race... but should be proud to claim both sides. Because u are not of One, U are of Two join together to make one. So let's not deny them their right to be proud of both the heritages.
  • African-Americans come in all colors, features, etc - cuz we've been here for over 300 years and were created in this land from African slaves, European-Americans and French, and even Chinese railroad workers brought in by British companies from the Islands. Just because we do not wear our phenotypic diversity as badge of "LOOK AT ME I'M SPECIAL" or "I'm BETTER/PRETTIER/EXOTIC" doesn't mean we aren't - our racial diversity symbolizes our role in building this nation, not "TRES RAZAS" or "YOU MUST BE SPANISH"..no offense to anyone who is proud of being mixed as some African-Americans are. But Even those individuals know that to be BLACK & PROUD is MIXED and BLACK and not trying to diminish the roots that defined us - GO PAULA! And PS to Mademark, Vanessa Williams self-defines as BLACK because her grandparents are of mixed heritage LIKE MOST AFRICAN-AMERICANS! SO while you capitalize all your letters yelling at whoever, just remember being if you are not of one sole race you are "just anything" - unbenounced to you, that's what AFRO-AM is! From Pebbles to Paula Patton to Vanessa Williams to Susan dePasse to Julian Bond - the list of our diversity goes on so get with the program and then you won't have to be so dismissive.
  • This is a silly question. Black folks come in all colors. Even within one family (same with Spanish, Indonesians etc) Folks with different color parents usually wind up identifying themselves as black. Sometimes naturally, but sometimes the label is put on them. Ms Carey is Mixed. Early in her career Ms Carey had been acused of 'trying white' and then trading on her blackness as she developed. I don't care either way. In NYC its obivious and who cares anyway. (Franko, Irish Brooklyn guy).
  • She is a very beautiful woman period... By the American definition she would be labeled "Black"... by most of the worlds definition she would be labeled with any one of the various words used for someone of mixed race. Americans need to get over this black/white issue... in all actuality she is BOTH. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that one of her grandparents is white if it is the TRUTH. It doesn't make anyone with full African ancestry any less beautiful <3 (as a side note for anyone that would want to comment: yes I know that there are people from African countries that have a "mixed" appearance... and if you would just take the time to research that country's history just a little... you would find that they are in fact a mixture of races...and there is nothing wrong with that either.)
  • Who cares? I just Googled her (had never heard of her before) and she is apparently a very attractive young woman. So why the hang up on race? I'd be more concerned over whether she slurps her spagetti, likes long walks on the beach or has a passionate desire for old, married, bald guys. Hope this helps.
  • whatever she is.. or is not.. she must be a wonderful PERSON to have won the heart of Robin Thicke. On the other hand, maybe he won hers.
  • in response to Rae-Anne: although u make a pretty good argument some of wat you say is incorrect. there are people who you can tell that they are most likely multi-racial, but looking at halle berry you dont assume she's bi-racial, she jus looks like a light-skinned black female (because we do come in ALL shades with numerous features) same thing with our president, you wouldn't assume that he is bi-racial also, because he definatly looks just like the "average" black man, yet still his mama is white and his daddy is black.and to make a stereotypical statement saying that if someone doesn't have the "typical" black features they have to be mixed. i'm a black female, fully black for as far back as i can go (and thats a good amount of generations) i dont have a large forehead, i have thinner lips and quite a small nose, my mama, brother, father, grandmother and so on have full lips, but my ma has a thinner nose so its jus diversity in our genes. you can't rely on looks because in that case a lot of us would be very much miss informed. and to some others who made it seem like there is a problem with wondering or being curious about someone else's race: there is nothing wrong with bn curious, the problem comes wen people set their boundaries to only being defined as their race or judging them by that.
  • She is certaintly NOT blac. She CLEARLY is of mixed heritage. I am an undeniable black woman. If i said i was chinese one day would that make me chinese? Dont get me wrong she is cool and very attractive but say hwhat you are dont try to gain points, if your mixed you are mixed and thats it. Be proud of both and dont try to claim something your not..
  • Look.. I don't get it..., Paula Patton considers herself BLACK!!! Halle Berry Considers herself black..!!! That should be the end of it. I do want to state that i am a black woman that is the complexion of Halle Berry and was compared to her and Toni Braxton a lot some years back I was often asked What are you?? Do you have Indian in your Blood. I thought i did .. that is what my grandmother believed. But i did a ancestry search that took years to do and as far back as i can find.. All of my ancestors are black. Now i am sure that a slave master was running around somewhere in my family over a several hundred years ago. cause that's what they did. But my mother and her entire sid of her family are darker skin and my father is the complexion of the Of Barack Obama. but bothe of his parents and their parents and their parents are all BLACK!!. My point is just like someone else stated we do come in all shades and just cause someone has lighter skin , thinner lips, or certain physical features don't assume that you know what they are.. You know what happens when you assume!!! Genes are a mysterious thing... and you can carry traits from ancestors from 400 years ago or 40 years ago.... You get what you get.
  • @Janice she actually IS black born in California but her family is from Mississippi. The beautiful thing about being black is that we come in ALL shades from the lightest skinned women that can "pass" like my grandmother to the people who's skin looks like its been kissed by the sun. Both by grandmothers parents are black and she is so light that she gets mistaken for white ALL the time...your genes can reach back 100's of years and maybe somewhere down the line I'm sure a slave owner was sleeping with the slaves. We as a people dont have clear ansecetry because we were brought here so just because someone is light doesnt mean there mixed, I'm proof of that
  • She is Mixed race. She is NOT black, and she is Not white, she is mixed. It is sad a lot of less knowledgeble people think that having One Black parent makes you black. If that were true then having one white parent should make you white!!! When you have one of each you are blessed with a multiracial ethnicity, P.c term (by no means glamorous) is Mixed/ Dual ethnic. Take your pick.
  • last I checked only dogs r "mixed" Anyway people r wondering because she has a unique but beautiful look. Its not that serious people!!!!!!!!
  • You are what you seek.
  • She is what you call "bi-racial". She is of two different races. African American and Caucasian. You can tell by looking at her and you can tell by reading her biography.
  • You want to know her race. It's simple. Human. People get a grip.
  • i just wanna know which one of her parents is black which one is white just curious cuz when i look at her i see a latino women.
  • She is Mixed and FINE!!!!!!! that is all that matters lets just say shes fine! lol. Love her, and as a mixed woman 1 parent of mine is mixed my Dad and my mom is caucasion. I consider myself mixed; multi or bi-racial as they say now days. but all that matters is she is the product of what the 2 parents one Black and one White bring about; a Beautiful Mix! thats why it's called mixed
