do you mean like the euro cent?
1 euro = 100 cents. The paper money is identical across the EU, while the coins have different designs on one of the faces for each country, while the other side of the coin is identical (and all have the same size/material).
Interesting question. Most people refer to the 'cent' regardless of what their original currency was. But the french still often refer to a centimes, which was the 1/100 division of a franc.
