I'm torn. I have to make a decision between a Nissan 240SX ($500) with a smashed front bumper, front left fender, hood, and radiator (I can repair it all); and VW Beetle ($3,500) with a rebuilt 1.6. Suggestions?

The Nissan, no question. If you really can fix it, you can make quite a little zipper.

Personally, I'd choose a Beetle over anything! But financially, the Nissan may be the better buy because you can repair it all yourself. How much work will you have to put into the Beetle?

240sx have super high resale. i paid $500 for mine with no engine or tranny. assuming the frame is good.. buy it.. get it running .. and sell for 3 times that or more.
