You may have a dog that is very sensitive to "pitch" and the sounds hurt his ears.
Try putting cotton in his ears/ earmuffs - experiment and see if you can narrow this phobia down.
It also would be interesting to consult your vet for his opinion.
Most interesting.
Nope, my dogs and cats seem to like music, most of the time. They all lay around me when I play the piano. Though for a STRONG REACTION...I notice at Christmas, when we play our Jingle Cat's CD...MY dog, Hannah, is either complaining, (but not whining) or more like trying to JOIN IN the "music."
Wow, no way!
My dogs all congregate in the room whenever I start playing music, even if it's something as loud as, say, banging on a trap set.

When I had a dog he howled along to certain parts.
Your dog is known as 'sound sensitive' what breed is it? you didn't say...the collie/retriever breeeds tend to be more prone to this. DO NOT stick anything into your dogs ears btw. This caan lead to all sorts of horrible icky smelly problems. You need to de-sensitise your dog. Seek a trainer and speak to your vet so they can see exactly how the dog responds in your home.

You're reading My dog doesn't like music. Any type, any volume. Bass, treble, volume all been played with to no avail. Anyone else have a dog that whimpers and whines whenever music plays?

Pitch sensitive..I've thought about this one. He will go nuts when the kids play the keyboard using a sine wave setting. Most any note played he starts in. This may be it. Thanks.
