It seems to be Bipolar Disorder, the irritability you are experiencing is a symptom of BD called Mania, meaning you could be happy one minute and the next minute you will want to cry, cuss out everyone, and just you could careless what happened. The mood changes are also Mania symptoms. Look up some info online such as Webmd.com They will give you tests, and ALOT of info on the disorder. Above all talk to your doctor about it. Cutting is a very serious side effect to BD, Even though you dont want to you could kill yourself when you are experiencing Mania. But you really need to talk to a trusted friend/family member and Your doctor IMMEDIATELY!!!

It most certainly seems like it. Violent mood swings are associated with a number of things from depression to a hormone inbalance. Thing is if you need to resort to such drastic measures as self injury (such as cutting, burning etc.) or drugs, then there is clearly a problem and you need to get help. Go see your doctor, please, who will run tests and refer you to a specialist. It isn't worth living your life like that

    Biopolar to the Tee.

Bipolar disorder, which used to be called manic depressive illness or manic depression, is a mental disorder characterized by wide mood swings from high (manic) to low (depressed). Periods of high or irritable moods are called "manic" episodes. The person becomes very active, but in a scattered and unproductive way, sometimes with painful or embarrassing consequences. Examples are spending more money than is wise or getting involved in sexual adventures that are regretted later. A person in a manic state is full of energy or very irritable, may sleep far less than normal, and may dream up grand plans that could never be carried out. The person may develop thinking that is out of step with reality psychotic symptoms such as false beliefs (delusions) or false perceptions (hallucinations). During manic periods, a person may run into trouble with the law. If a person has milder symptoms of mania and does not have psychotic symptoms, it is called a "hypomanic" episode.

The vast majority of people who have manic episodes also experience periods of severe depression. If manic and depressive symptoms overlap for a period of time, it is called a "mixed" episode. In some people, moods alternate rapidly or it is difficult to tell which mood depression or mania is more prominent.
The most important risk of this illness is the risk of suicide. People who have bipolar disorder are also more likely to abuse alcohol or other substances.

This is a more and more common situation. You are not alone in your pain but you need to get help! The teens are a very "moody" time for girls, life and hormones send us on highs and lows naturaly. In todays world we get more hormones in the foods we eat or birth control, this and the higher levels of stress on teens can cause wider mood swings. Tell your family doctor your having problems, that you would like to see a mental health specialist. I will keep you in my thoughts, but get help!
