How bad can friction burns be and how deep can they go?

    they can be deep enough to bleed quite a bit but generally they aren't that bad (think of a blister from the back of your shoe)

    Well the common term friction burn is not really a burn a burn is classified by heat, flame, electricity, sun, chemicals, or radiation. A friction burn is really an abrasion this is defined as superficial layers of skin are scraped or rubbed away it can also be a medical treament dermabrasion. To answer you question a abrasion will go as deep as its allowed it can go right to the bone if your crazy enough to put a spinning object on you and sit there through the pain.

    I had some friction burns on the tops of my feet about 3 months ago and they were pretty bad. They were right on the joint of my big toe so every time I bent my toes or walked they killed me, they blistered and then bled and because I have to wear shoes and socks all the time they are taking ages to properly heal, I still have red marks now from all that time ago.
