Since pretty much everything Hollywood does can be interpreted as a lie, it's a close call on many fronts.
But I'd have to say that the notion that a romance can fall apart and come back together, crimes can be solved, murderers caught, planets saved and people redeemed all in 42 minutes. (An hour with commercials.)
