How much would a 20x40 wood deck cost with labor? newyork/longisland area.

Alright, so you live in New York, everything is more expensive up there. But lets just say, for a round about ball park number...mmm...thats a big deck you know...$11,800 - $12,500. I'd say at least if not more. Basic PT (pressure treated) lumber 2x8,10's or 12's for framing, 5/4 board floor and really basic 4x4 post-2x4 rail and 2x2 picket handrail will cost you over $5/sqft plus add for paying out labor or subbing it out. And being where you are (north of Mason-Dixon Line/God's country)y'all probably use composite flooring more widely (my experience while working in Baltimore '03 and Morgantown, WV '06) which is about three times to $$ as STAND.PT 5/4, but it won't twist, split, shrink, splinter, warp or all the other like wood sittin under the Sun. Oh, and whenever possible (and I'm sure its not in Union laced grounds) but DON'T PERMIT A DECK IF ITS FOR YOUR OWN HOME - Inspectors are (not all) or can be a pain in your ... I've built over 300 decks and porches and screenedrooms and porticoes and more. email if you got any more questions, want to see pics for ideas, need a take-off done if you have plan drawing or if you need a plan drawing designed.
