  • What do I Do? what should I dress like? what clubs should I jopin how do i do my hair and make up???
  • Most people wear a t-shirt and jeans, both boys and girls. Some girls wear skirts. You will need some nice clothes, but not until graduation.
  • Go buy a magazine, or go by a school in the afternoon and watch some of the kids walk out. You will get an idea from that. Mostly just jeans and t-shirts, and a hoodie or jacket, nothing formal. And for shoes, regular sneakers such as Nike or Jordans(excuse my spelling). Magazines would really help you out(just dont buy anything crazy looking, go with your gut instinct) Good luck! (:
  • I was in a similar situation to you when I was a child. I grew up in the city, and then we moved to the suburbs where everyone seemed so privileged. When you are young it's important to fit in, or at least not stand out like a sore thumb. Ask your dad to take you to some events at the school you will be attending. Sports, whatever, it doesn't matter. You and your dad can also meet with a counselor there and talk about your concerns, the counselor meets and counsels new kids each week who worry about the same things you do. Ask if they assign a mentor to you - a really nice kid who has been there a while who will be like a starter friend for you. Many schools do that, and others will if you ask. Good luck to you!
  • I'm a freshman in college so I just finished the whole high school thing. Just dress however you feel comfortable. Jeans and t-shirts are generally what people wear. Check out Old Navy or American Eagle to get an idea of what type of fashions are in right now. Sometimes these clothes are expensive, so check Ross or Marshall's to find clothes for a lot cheaper. Make up should be light and natural, just play up your best features. I think in Dillards, you can go to the make-up counter and they will do your makeup for the first time and show you what products to use. For your hair, just down, in a ponytail, or half-back is fine. The only real thing is to make sure it's clean and looks put together. There is no need to dye your hair or anything, just wear it as you would normally. As for clubs, join anything you are interested in. I was a part of pretty much every club at my high school, but that was a bit overboard. My school had an FCA and a Bible Club, and those are both good to find good friends. Also, we had Juniorette's, which is a service club for girls and that's great to meet upper-classmen and girls of your same age. Social classes are over-rated. Don't try to fit in with the "popular" crowd. Just be yourself and you'll fall into the place you're supposed to be. Find a couple of good friends are you'll be great! Best of luck!
  • Above all, be yourself! that's how you will get true friends and the best experience. that's the best advice I can give. Don't conform yourself to other people's expectations. Be prepared for some tough stuff you wouldn't encounter in homeschooling, and it would help to personally talk to some people who go to public school.
