For breaking intentionally, a cassette is a bit harder as you have to use some manual dexterity to undo the cover to get to the tape itself whereas a DVD can be snapped by hand.
For accidental breaks, a DVD is harder as a video tape will be destroyed by a simple sticky spot on the rollers or head whereas a DVD is read with no physical contact except for the spinning mechanism.
Will Blu-rays but DVDs completely out of business in the year 2015?
