Yes, of course those repeated images have a conditioning effect, and those who fail to challenge it internally may be influenced by it.

I absolutely do. How can anyone not be affected by images of 'the perfect body' being paraded in front of them everyday, hundreds of times a day. Sooner or later you're going to start believing that’s what a body looks like, which of course it doesn't unless your entire job is getting emaciated, plucked & preened, then 'amended' on computer.

Yes definitely. That's probably a good thing in general. If you care about yourself then you tend to care about nutrition and health (oops there goes millions of Americans, not that they have a patent) at least to a degree. I think females are becoming less obsessed with looking like Kate Moss these days though. Males usually fall into 2 catagoies: obsessive and "don't give a f%@#"
I see plenty of ads these days that have a plethora of weight types so... I know lots of guys who like Big women. I have many African American friends who like their women lookin' "healthy" (large). Not me really but to each their own.

Yes, it affects everyone, more than they realize. Men look, and think "Hey, she looks hot" then overtly or subconsciously encourage the women in their lives to look more like the models do. Women look and get the impression that fashion is only for the thin; Heavier women only get the leftover fashions.

I think people who are impressionable are most affected and that is our youth. Older people ignore it unless they are immature and shallow.

Adults tend to just get annoyed when things are constantly thrown in our faces. Children and teens are easy to manipulate. The media has done great harm to our society by misguiding it's youth. It seems to do more and more damage as our youth spend more and more time involved with the media.

The children today are the product of an already poisoned and misguided group of adults because of the media. Their children are a total mess.

People need leadership and when you look to the message that the media sends out you will put yourself into a cycle of unhappiness and constant crisis.

When you think for yourself and learn to make the correct decisions your life will become much better.

Having those skinny and I might say that I do not find them all that attractive, androgynous waifs cause much harm to the psyche of our youth. They make them feel inferior and their self esteem is destroyed if they buy into it all. This creates a group of miserable and unhappy overly emotional teenagers. It's hard enough to be a teenager, they just make things worse.

Yes totally, because people especially teens are faced with images of skinny models/celebs all day everyday.. they are everywhere, on the television, magazines etc this makes people believe it is the way they 'should' look. This is probably one of the reasons for many people now becoming underweight and anorexic now a days. Also, people are faced with attractive looking models too which makes them feel self conscience and alot of people in magazine are photoshopped to make them look pretty, i mean dont get me wrong not everyone is photo shopped but quite a few. But i think we need to be faced with natural beauty and models shouldn't all be size 0 because it is not true of the world around us, not everyone is size 0. And people should be made to feel comfortable in the skin they are in. :)
