For me, something that is worth knowing has to either be useful or interesting. That means that the information has to be something that has practical value for me or something that is funny, enlightening, or otherwise thought-provoking.

"knowledge" is borrowed; "learning" is yours. One decides what is worth for us...actually everything has its importance, so it's up you. Besides, in this momentary human life you might not be able to go deeper into all kinds of knowledge, however, you get to know what you calls your attention. Now, there's a huge difference between "knowing" and "learning": "knowledge" is acquired throughout words, language, concepts; "learning" is acquired throughout experience. Whereas "knowledge" has an end, "learning" doesn't. "Learning" is a process: one keeps learning 'till the last moment. "knowledge" gets to a point where it stops and turns into ego. "Learning" never stops, and stays humble. hug, maramel

If you're lucky enough to reside within a semblance of an egalitarian society, it's all up to you, bamberlam. That's both exciting and weighty at once, yes? Have the self-regard, creativity and courage to decide what you wanna know, go learn it and sally forth! Good luck in your existential self-actualization! ;-)

knowledge is power, the more you know the more power you have, so you decide

I'm not sure at all that one actually decides what is worth knowing. Maybe the most important thing to know is who the knower is. This one may not be the one who gathers all the facts into portfolios and who appears to make all the decisions. The one who actually does the knowing of all that which is worth knowing may be difficult to recognize. Isn't this true because the one that is looking is the one sought? It is as if the things worth knowing actually find us and it must happen while we are otherwise busy looking around for the right thing to know. It has been said somewhere or other: "Be still and know."

In "The User Illusion" neuroscientist Tor Norretranders states that only one millionth of what we perceive can be in our consciousness at any one time, and of that, very little is stored as knowledge. Even so, I know many things that I wish I didn't; and, of course, I don't know all that I'd like.

One thing worth knowing is how many grains of blackpowder to load behind that roundball. Start out with a light load and work your way up to the max load and see what works the best for you. Just don't over load as that could be very dangerous. :-)

In creation every thing is beautiful and wonderful, Let us try to understand the mystery a bit during our limited time of existence in this world.
