Women: For those of you that are mothers, are about to become mothers, or what to be mothers, how long do you feel is okay to breastfeed your child/ren? Do you determine how long it will be or do they?

    Some people let the baby self ween.....What ever is right for you and your baby is what you should do.

    With my son, I breast feed for one year. I determined how long I would breast feed. Children are representative of their parents. They represent us, so therefore at an early age we must teach them about being independent. Also, buying the proper supplies allowed me to give him my milk indirectly.

    I've got three--with the first, breastfed the full "recommended" six weeks, although in retrospect it was a mistake; with the other two, was not only breastfeeding but was supplementing with formula and was feeding solids by 2 months...each child is an individual, and each infant has different needs and tolerances as far as food intake is concerned..follow your own best instincts!
