Definitely. But being able to keep working without rest is an important skill for doctors, for military, for fire-fighters and rescue workers. It is possible that it is a weeding process to ensure that docs will get their asses out of bed when the nurse calls to tell them their patients are cratering.
Yes, I think they are. I also think working too many hours can have a negative effect on their ability to make important decisions, regarding the health of their patients. Sleep deprivation and medical work, is a bad combination.
My mom is a nurse at two places and works almost every day if not all.
