Your question indicates the following to me...

    You are not a cook

Nothing is as delicious on a cold winter's day as a bowl of homemade split-pea soup made with leftover ham from whatever holiday...Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter. Pair it with a nice salad and some homemade bread and there is nothing finer m'dear..nothing! :)

I want to like it, really I do. I like ham and white bean soup just fine, but split pea soup always seems gritty to me, looks like a scene from "The Exorcist," and is as much fun to swallow as Pepto bismol.

Bad split-pea soup is bland and gritty. Good split-pea soup can attain such a sublimity as to cause the gods to skip their regular ambrosia.

If you tasted mine, I think you would like it! Maybe you are having it from the can, and not home made from scratch? Do you know how it is made?

Sometime, just once, have a bowl of true homemade pea soup by an excellent cook, and give it a chance. If you will don't like it, so be it. :-))

I love pea soup if it is well made. I make a good one, if I say so myself. Have you ever hsd home-made? I'm guessing that you have only had some inferior canned product.

As far as I'm concerned, there's a very good reason why they used pea soup as the vomit in The Exorcist.

Its good for some people, its bad for others lol

Up until the point that it became obvious that I was allergic to all legumes and not just soybeans, split pea soup was one of my very favorite foods. Thanks for making me salivate over something I can't have anymore.

My mom makes terrific pea soup. It was and will always be one of my favorites.

But, not everyone likes split pea soup. So, if you don't like it, you don't have to have it.
