  • I dunno. If I were one, a @#$%-load! ;-)
  • Yarnlady. I'm not sure what you mean by ex military. If you mean the people who served in the forces during peactime, I agree with you. These people signed on in the forces not just to be a Soldier, Airman or Sailor, they signed on to protect their Country if a conflict should start. The service people who did go to war deserve all the accolades they get but, those who served during peacetime were just as ready to go to war as the others. I think, believe, all who served in anyway, were doing so for their country and should be decorated the same as the others.
  • Most military people I know do not ask for thanks so it's hard to say. I've actually never seen a monument to veterans but then I've never been to Washington DC either. I have no idea how many there are but there probably isn't enough.
  • people that donate to build a military monument do so because they feel compelled, as an retired person, i think that the way to thank a person is to show appreciation for what has been done. we are suppose to be fighting for freedom, so when a person berates me because of my race, I think "wow, i served in Iraq so this guy can call me a stupid "N". I protected his freedom of speech. So if people would just take a little time, and think that people that fight do so for all or us, and remember that we are all Americans, that would be thanks enough. so, i fought for the crackhead in the Alley as well as the CEO in the office, and all should be treated as well.
  • You'd have to ask the donors. They're the ones feeling grateful enough to make it happen. Kinda snarky question in my opinion.
  • I don't need monuments, flags, parades, donations or any of that sort of thing. I simple 'thank you' will suffice.
  • The entire existence of mankind must become a tribute to their GRAET SUKSESS!
  • We really don't need a monument, what we need is to feel like our service is remembered and respected.
  • I don't believe there are very many veterans (including myself) who expect monuments. Our monuments are the honor of having done something for our country. You might, however, wish to thank a veteran, if you know one, for giving of himself to ensure your right to ask such a question.
  • Veterans don't build monuments. The government builds monuments to minimally appease the families that have service members that die in a conflict that they mandate we go to. Your question should read "how many monuments will the government build to honor the veterans who sacrificed their lives for their country".
  • arent most of them for memories of people who are not around to feel thanked?
  • This is truly an amazing question! Those of us lucky enough to be home with our families actually will be the first to tell you we don't need anything, it was our job and we did it well.........With that said it is for the our Brother's and Sister's who paid the ultimate price while "running block" for all to be out of harms way that the rememberance should and will continue onward in the form of monuments. The Government usually builds these monuments as a final spot to which the families of these most brave can go and find some type of peace of mind.
