  • A lot depends on where you need to go in these states. Big cities are big cities and impersonal in any state. Smaller cities and towns in all three of these states should be relatively friendly and have caring people. Alaska is pretty rural (some of it very rural) depending where you go and some areas have a short summer and long winter. The Southern part near the ocean is not as cold as some think because of the ocean currents. Ill and Indiana both are rural once you get out of the big cities. Pretty friendly and lots of agriculture, etc. Have I been there? Yes, in all of them in both urban and rural areas. (If you can call Juneau and Anchorage cities. LOL)
